Caterina Lumina, known as Cate Lumina, was born in Bergamo in 2003 and moved with her family to Menorca (Spain) at a very young age. Growing up with her feet in the sand, she fell in love with singing at the age of five when she asked her mother to join a children’s choir. Upon turning eighteen, she moved to Madrid for university and began writing her first songs, which soon led to collaborations with several Italian producers.
In June 2025, she moved to Milan as part of an Erasmus exchange program. What was meant to be a six-month stay took a decisive turn in December, when she joined the school of Amici di Maria De Filippi, Italy’s leading music talent show. As part of Rudy Zerbi’s team, she took her first steps into the Italian music scene, releasing her first original tracks, “RoseRovi” and “Vuelve”.
In April 2026, she signed with LaTarma Records, and the following month, on 15 May, she released her debut EP, “Catalina”, marking the first chapter of her artistic journey. The project stems from a constant sense of dual identity: Spain, where she grew up and formed her deepest emotional roots, and Italy, her heritage and a place she has always returned to. These two languages merge into a single flow, shaping emotions that refuse to be confined to a single direction.
The EP also features two collaborations: PRACI, an Italian rapper and one of the most exciting new names on the scene, and Gard, a young singer-songwriter who shared the Amici experience with her. Closing the project is “Diamante”, written entirely in Spanish and showcasing Cate’s instinctive songwriting skills.
