Giovanni Toscano

An artist from Pisa, born in 1996, he is a singer-songwriter, writer and actor. After classical high school, he enrolled at the “Oltrarno” acting academy in Florence, directed by Pierfrancesco Favino, and later graduated in Contemporary History from the University of Pisa.

Music arrived in middle school, when he started playing with friends in a caravan in the middle of a wheat field, with a drum kit, two amplifiers and a coffee machine. That is where his first songs were born, but it was during his three years in Florence that Toscano picked up the guitar again and began writing his songs with a different awareness.

In 2018 he made his film debut as the lead in Paolo Virzì’s “Notti Magiche”, presented at the Rome Film Fest. This successful experience was followed by the first two seasons of the Rai1 series “Studio Battaglia” and a role in “Romantiche”, a film by Pilar Fogliati written with Giovanni Veronesi.

He balances music with his other artistic passions: he shoots documentaries, writes screenplays and keeps in his drawer texts that tell of different worlds. On 6 May 2021 his debut novel, “Il guinzaglio”, was published by Fandango. He also directed the short film “Seconde case”, which won a Special Mention at the 2024 Benevento Film and Television Festival. A traveller always searching for sounds and stories, he writes about his generation, constantly seeking new influences.

In summer 2022 he released his first singles, “Stasera” and “Amore Mio”, with which he opened concerts for Carmen Consoli, Max Gazzè and Daniele Silvestri. In March 2023 his debut album “Arrogantissimo” (LaTarma Records/BMG Italy) came out, preceded by the single “Giornataccia”, launching a musical journey built on contrasts: images and words, nature and city, encounters and farewells, poetry and madness.

In summer 2023 Giovanni Toscano took his debut album live across Italy on his first real tour and released “Spaghetti Gipsy”. In 2024 he returned with a new project of original songs, “Un posto migliore”, introduced by a vodcast of the same name: a format new to the Italian scene, in which the singer-songwriter reflects on the long road that led to his second album. He then released “Dramma italiano”, featured on the soundtrack of Another Simple Favor, directed by Paul Feig and starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, the sequel to the hit A Simple Favor, available worldwide on Prime Video from 1 May 2025.

At the same time he surprise-released “Eroi”, an intimate, dreamlike track that serves as the natural conclusion of the journey begun with Un Posto Migliore, revealing its final emotional nuance.

In March 2026 he returned to the music scene with his latest EP, “Il Gioco delle Tre Domande”.
